Propecia [Finasteride] Description
When the male hormone [testosterone] is converted into dihydro-testosterone [DHT] by the 5-alpha reductase enzyme, it causes hair loss in men as DHT interacts with genetically vulnerable hair follicles, making them weaker and incapable of producing healthy hair. Finasteride inhibits the conversion of testosterone into DHT, which slows down thinning of hair, and at times even reverses this process.
Uses of Generic Propecia
Propecia is a once-a-day oral medication for the treatment of alopecia [hair loss] in adult men. Younger men have the most to gain from Propecia as their hair has been known to grow back on the top, crown and frontal areas showing a complete reversal of hair loss. Older men, too, have benefitted from this pill - hair often grows back on the crown of their heads, sometimes on the top and sides, too.
Dosage of Generic Propecia 1mg tablets
Finasteride is given as a single dose, as decided by the physician, keeping individual medical condition in mind, but should be taken exactly as prescribed. The pill should be taken with water, though it can be taken with or without meals. Try to take it at the same time each day.
Missed Dose of Propecia
Since it is a single dose, you are not likely to miss it, but if you do, then take the missed dose as soon as you remember but don't double your dose.
